IOHSAD to host meeting of OHS network

The Institute for Occupational Health and Safety Development (IOHSAD) will be hosting the 3-day Asian Network for the Rights of Occupational Accident Victims (ANROAV) Annual meeting to be held on September 27-29, 2008 in Manila, Philippines. ANROAV is a broad network of grassroots organization promoting Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) in the region. The activity will be a gathering of OHS experts, unionists and victims group from all over the world. Almost 100 participants, with more than 70 foreign delegates will be converging on the Pearl Garden Hotel located at 1700 Adriatico Street corner Malvar Street, Malate, Manila to discuss how to promote OHS in the region.

The foreign delegates will be coming from Australia, Bangladesh, Cambodia, Canada, China, France, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Laos, Nepal, Taiwan, Thailand and the United States of America, who will be exchanging skills with fellow Filipino OHS experts.

“It is both an honor and a pleasure to be chosen as the host of the ANROAV Annual Meeting. We will take this great opportunity to share with our brothers and sisters from across the globe the efforts of Filipinos in promoting OHS. It will also be an opportune time to map out strategies for the further development of OHS in the region,” said Noel Colina, Executive Director of IOHSAD.

According to Colina, Filipino delegates will be coming from all over the Philippines, including from the Visayas and Mindanao. “The first day of the meeting will feature reports on various activities of the member organizations of ANROAV, while the second day will be for skill share sessions.”

The activity is organized by the Asia Monitor Resource Center (AMRC), a Hong Kong-based organization with IOHSAD, a member of ANROAV, serving as the local organizer.
