The Hapilan Daycare Center conducted its educational trip last February 5, 2010 at the Ninoy Aquino Parks and Wildlife Center (NAPWC). The children along with their parents and guardians were given a tour of the wildlife conservation center located inside the NAPWC.

“Part of the daycare curriculum is the introduction to Philippine fauna and the trip was in pursuit of this,” said Noel Colina, Executive Director of the Institute for Occupational Health and Safety Development (IOHSAD). “The children wanted to see snakes and crocodiles and they were not disappointed. Aside from animals mentioned, they were able to see various wild birds of prey and other animals endemic to the Philippines. But it was the gibbons which made their day.”

Aside from the animal visit, the children also took part in an art workshop facilitated by student volunteers from the UP PreP and UPNET. They were asked to draw what they want to be in the future. While the students were busy with the art workshop, the parents and guardians also took part in a health training facilitated by IOHSAD.

The Hapilan Daycare Center is supported by the Australian People for Health, Education and Development Abroad (APHEDA).
